The conference coordinated by Mykolas Romeris University in Vilnius, will be held online on 16-17 and 23-24 January 2025. It will mark an important phase in the CNRS IRN project “A chapter in the global history of philosophy: new perspectives on Bergsonism,” following the conferences held at Penn State (2020), Fukuoka (2021), São Carlos (2022) and Yaoundé (2024). Researchers from all fields of philosophy, and indeed from all areas of culture, are invited to share their experiences and reflections on the theme “Bergsonism in dialogue”. Firstly, the very nature of the Bergsonian mind, insofar as it opens to dialogue, could be analysed. Secondly, numerous configurations of this dialogue will need to be studied:
1) Bergsonism and other contemporaries philosophies: phenomenology, pragmatism, philosophical anthropology, analytical philosophy, Kantianism and neo-Kantianism, postmodernism;
2) Bergsonism and the social sciences: sociology, cultural anthropology, political science, law, pedagogy;
3) Bergsonism and psychology: different psychoanalytical schools, Gestalt, psychiatry;
4) Bergsonism and science: biology, physics, mathematics;
5) Bergsonism and other areas of culture and spiritual life: the plastic arts, music, literature, religion, relations between different cultures.
This list is not exhaustive: a new place, a new form of dialogue, or even a new way of engaging in dialogue could emerge from Bergson, and everyone is invited to suggest other possible references.
